Successful end to first phase of online revision for AA1000SES
 | As of 10 March 2010, the first consultation draft AA1000 Stakeholder Engagement Standard (AA1000SES) on the wiki platform for revision, is no longer available for public comment. This first draft of the 2nd edition AA1000SES has been undergoing review on the wiki and via twenty global consultation workshops, since October 2009. The next step is for the AA1000SES Technical Committee to meet in London on 24 March 2010 in order to review all input to date. The next consultation draft for public review and comment will be prepared and posted on the wiki for the second cycle of revision, to be opened in April 2010. More details on the outcome of the technical committee meeting including the dates for the next cycle of revision, will be announced soon.
Since October 2009, the wiki platform has seen over 5,000 visits with over 20,000 page views from users in 106 countries. For the second phase, AccountAbility will continue to ensure participation across all stakeholder groups. The aim of the revision is to move the AA1000SES beyond a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) process and make it strategically relevant for all aspects of business.
The standard is being revised using a wiki based online collaborative drafting process as this will ensure global credibility in two ways:
- International accessibility - allowing thousands of individuals and organisations to provide their input without facing access barriers such as the cost of travel to meetings and the difficulty of cutting through dominant voices.
- Transparency - a logged record of everyone who has participated and the nature of their input.
