AccountAbility CEO Sunny Misser appointed to Colin Powell School Board of Visitors

New York and London (May 2025) — AccountAbility, a globally recognized leader in sustainability consulting, standards, and research, gladly announces that its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sunil (Sunny) A. Misser, has been appointed to the Board of Visitors of the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership at The City College of New York (CCNY).

This appointment marks another significant step in the deepening partnership between AccountAbility and the Colin Powell School.

Earlier this year, the two organizations announced the creation of the AccountAbility Sustainability Lab (“S Lab”), a pioneering initiative designed to equip students with the knowledge, tools, and experiences to excel as the next generation of sustainability and business leaders. Launching in Fall 2025, the “S Lab” will combine rigorous academic coursework with real-world, hands-on engagement to offer students an immersive and transformative educational experience.

AccountAbility has made a commitment to support, over the next four years, the roll-out of the “S Lab” in partnership with the Colin Powell School. At the core of the program is the S Lab Fellowship, a year-long experience designed to integrate academic rigor with real-world ESG challenges. Fellows will participate in a fall credit-bearing course led by Colin Powell School faculty, co-developed with AccountAbility experts, and a spring capstone project designed with AccountAbility for hands-on application.

Mr. Misser brings over three decades of experience advising Global Fortune 500 companies, international institutions, and multilateral organizations on sustainability strategy, governance, and transformational change. Under his leadership, AccountAbility has become a mission-driven global firm known for advancing responsible business practices and delivering practical, effective solutions to complex challenges. 

Prior to joining AccountAbility, Mr. Misser served as the Global Managing Partner for the Sustainability Advisory Business at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where heled the firm's sustainability and corporate governance efforts worldwide. Earlier, he held the role of Global Strategy Leader for PwC’s Assurance and Business Advisory Services — encompassing the firm’s accounting, risk management, and consulting operations — and also led the New York Metro Governance, Risk, and Compliance practice. 

Earlier in his career, Mr. Misser held roles in operations and advanced manufacturing at Mars, Inc. and Honeywell. He holds a Master of Science in Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School of Management, at the prestigious Sloan Fellows Program, with a concentration in International Business and Technology. He also earned a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from M.S. University.

In addition tohis new role as a member of the Colin Powell School's Board of Visitors, Mr. Misser also serves (since 2020) on the Dean’s Advisory Board of Lehigh University’s College of Engineering & Applied Science. He has also served on the advisory board of E-Business @ MIT, the advisory board for Innovation and Corporate Responsibility at MIT/Sloan, and as an advisor on the strategy and consulting track at the MIT/Sloan School of Management. Mr. Misser was honored as the 2017 Distinguished Alumni for Excellence in Industry by Lehigh University, ISE.
