AccountAbility Director of Advisory Services, Daniel Metzger, Appointed to the Accountability Accelerator’s Validation Integrity Council

AccountAbility is pleased to announce that Daniel Metzger, Director of Advisory Services, has been appointed to the Accountability Accelerator’s Integrity Council. This independent body ensures the integrity and scientific rigor of the Accountability Accelerator’s validation process for science-based targets for nature in alignment with the methodologies established by the Science-Based Target Network (SBTN).

The Accountability Accelerator works to advance science-based corporate action by convening stakeholders, coordinating efforts, and providing resources to support environmental target setting and validation. As a member of the Integrity Council, Metzger will play a key role in safeguarding the credibility and scientific integrity of the target validation process while bringing a business perspective to ensure its relevance, helping companies turn sustainability pledges into real impact.

“In an evolving world filled with opportunity and uncertainty, often in equal measure, we believe that success will demand even greater resilience, collaboration, and foresight,” said AccountAbility CEO, Mr. Sunil (Sunny) Misser. “Our clients are demanding reliable, consistent, and accurate metrics and targets to record and report on their performance. The Accountability Accelerator provides a critical platform to help companies translate their sustainability commitments into measurable impact.”

The Integrity Council comprises leading experts in freshwater, land, sustainability standards, and corporate governance. The selection process was led by global sustainability leaders, including Christiana Figueres (former UNFCCC Executive Secretary), Marco Lambertini (WWF Director General), and Paul Polman (former Unilever CEO).

“Ensuring the credibility of sustainability targets is essential as businesses strive to enhance long-term resilience, competitive advantage, and stakeholder confidence,” said Metzger. “The Accountability Accelerator is actively working to enhance transparency and trust, which is foundational to driving relevant and meaningful corporate action. I am honored to contribute to this important endeavor alongside my esteemed colleagues on the Council.”

Metzger joins the Integrity Council with over 15 years of experience in corporate sustainability and ESG advisory, guiding global clients on strategy, governance, and reporting. He has contributed to AccountAbility’s AA1000 Series of Standards and serves on the board of the Children’s Environmental Literacy Foundation (CELF). Previously, he held roles at Tradition Energy and JPMorgan Chase. He holds a Master’s in Sustainability Management from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s in Environmental Science from the University of Michigan.
